Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position with theIntrinsic Radiosensitivity Group headed by Professor Gillies McKenna. The primary goal of this group is to identify the mechanisms of tumour resistance to radiation with the goal of sensitizing cells to radiation by blocking mechanisms that control cell survival.  

This post will explore the mechanism of action of polQ with a role to validating its use as a prognostic agent and a potential target for manipulating tumour response to therapy.  It is anticipated that the post-holder will provide data that would establish the suitability of developing compounds to inhibit POLQ.

The successful candidate should have a PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology or Biochemistry or related subject.  A high level of technical competence in standard cell and molecular biology techniques is essential.  A background in molecular biology, radiation biology or DNA repair is desirable.
