Title
UNIQ Summer School
In order to expand access and encourage applications from non-traditional backgrounds, the University of Oxford runs a number of outreach programmes. The flagship of these outreach efforts is UNIQ.
Although the Department of Oncology doesn’t teach undergraduate students, we have developed a UNIQ school which aims to make clear the extent to which our department makes use of a wide range of disciplines. The course illustrates tumour biology, cell biochemistry, imaging, radiotherapy, statistics, and clinical trials. We offer a laboratory practical and take the students on a tour of the research labs.
The Oncology Summer School aims to encourage students to consider studying maths and science as a route into medical research. It’s a week long programme of 27 hours contact time, including a tutorial session and evening study.
